My very first booksigning will take place the day after the release, July 25th, at the downtown Borders on Liberty Street in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

There are a myriad of reasons that I’m excited about this. I was born and bred in Ann Arbor, and that Borders used to be my old stomping ground. Hell, I remember the original Borders, when it was located where the Red Hawk is now. I know the Borders family, and even did a little copy-writing work for the company a lifetime ago.

The other reason that this works out so perfectly: I’ll actually be in town that month, performing at the Michigan Shakespeare Festival. I was a part of the festival in its second year, then stayed with it for four or five more seasons before moving to Chicago. In 2000, I directed RICHARD III out there and was made an artistic associate. Oh, and that festival is where I met my lovely wife, Jan.

Because Jan and I usually travel or direct during the summer, I haven’t been making a real attempt to do summer theatre. But when John Neville-Andrews called me and asked me to play Macbeth, I couldn’t refuse.

Which means that the weekend before the signing, I’ll be playing the Scottish King onstage in Jackson, MI. Setting me up perfectly to return to my hometown bookstore for a grand evening with friends.

So – 7 pm, July 25th, the Borders on Liberty Street in Ann Arbor! I’m sure there will be some kind of party afterwards. More on that as the details emerge.
