At the beginning of June, the Historical Novel Society held its annual conference in Albany, NY. I wasn’t there, sadly, but evidently there was a fair amount of buzz about my book. I think this is due to Sarah Johnson, one of the society’s editors, mentioning it as one of the new novels to watch for.
My Amazon sales jumped, which is lovely. Amusingly, this means that Amazon tried to automatically corrolate MV with the other books purchased by those buyers. Suddenly my little novel is no longer listed alongside Dorothy Dunnett, Bernard Cornwell, and Colleen McCullough. Instead – well, I’m flattered by the company I now keep. Bestsellers in their own rights, but perhaps not quite the audience I anticipated.
Still, it shows what a wide range of readers THE MASTER OF VERONA appeals to. And I am nothing loathe to embrace those readers. Welcome aboard.
