…for December, so I ordered Colleen McCullough’s new Rome book ANTONY & CLEOPATRA from Amazon.uk. As usual, it’s been published there before it hits the stands here.

Though a bit thinner than her previous forays into Roman history, it is an absolute delight to hear her phrasing once again, see her amazing research put into action, and revel in her characterizations. I’m about a fifth of the way through and I’m loving it.

If you haven’t read these yet, start with THE FIRST MAN IN ROME. Fantastic. Then just press on. Seriously, you won’t regret it. Thick, with lots of names, but her history is flawless and her prose is very crisp and well-crafted.

Okay, back to reading….
